The two blogs I found were: http://jakester.blogspot.com/ and http://thecookingblog.blogspot.com/ .
1.The first blog is a vanity blog created by a guy named Jason who lives in Olympia, Washington. The second blog is an information blog about cooking created by Wendy Cooper.
Jason’s blog is filled with things that interest him and events that have happened in his past week or month. For example, he blogged about doctor’s and dentist’s appointments he had to go to. He also put up a link to a live cam that was over a bald eagles nest. If he sees something that interests him, he puts it on his blog. If he wants to talk about his day or week, he puts it on his blog. There are no guidelines.
Wendy’s blog is an informative cooking blog. She provides many different cooking recipes. I also found it interesting that she had a picture of President Obama eating some kind of sandwich and she put a headline saying “Eat Like Barack Obama”. She also provides a link to the Senate’s menu (and recipes) where Obama got the sandwich. She doesn’t talk about her personal life, just about cooking, which makes it an informative blog.
2.I don’t think blogging necessarily supports this type of journalism because I think print media can (and does) support it a lot better. I think picking up a cooking magazine or reading the food section of the newspaper is more informative than reading a cooking blog. There is more depth to it. However, I think it’s impossible for print media to support the content of vanity blogs. A person can’t pick up a newspaper and read about Joe Smoh’s day (and why would they want to?) Vanity blogs are some people’s way of venting or sharing their experiences with friends and family and I don’t think print media would ever support that, which in my opinion is a good thing.
A good info. blog provides a lot of information about a particular subject in different aspects. To go off my example of a cooking blog, a good one would provide different recipes from different cultures and have a variety of recipes to choose from. A good vanity blog is one that is interesting to read. If it isn’t interesting people are going to read it because it bores them. As long as it’s not dull, it most likely good.
3.I would give it a 4, somewhat supports my thesis.
4.I don’t wish to change my thesis.
